The beauty of democracy is that it’s the only acceptable form of governance if you agree that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights and that they are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.
While this is secondary, but it’s a close second, democracy also, most of the time, delivers superior outcomes.
We do not choose political freedom because it promises us this or that. We choose it because it makes possible the only dignified form of human coexistence, the only form in which we can be fully responsible for ourselves.
