Shakespeare

There are things we like the idea of, but if we’re honest, we don’t want to do them. Contributing to a tight-knit community, going to church, farming and going to the theatre come to mind.

This summer, I spent a few days in Manhattan. By chance, I came across a performance of a Shakespeare play in a small West Side park on 89th St. I watched it for a few minutes but then I lost interest. Is it possible that Shakespeare plays are a little boring compared to other things we like to do? Hardly anyone wants to admit this though.

Regional theater, man. You want it to continue to exist, but you don’t always want to be the one who has to sit through it.
