On Rotten Tomatoes, The Hunter only has average reviews. It’s a thriller from 2011 starring Willem Dafoe as a mercenary who is hired by a Biotech company. There are reports of a surviving Tasmanian Tiger, and his employer wants him to find and kill it. This premise results in minor plot weaknesses, but that’s not the reason for most of the negative reviews. The majority of “rotten” ratings are related to the movie’s slow pace, which happens to be a reason I like it. But the biggest attraction for me is the character portrayed by Dafoe.
