I sometimes have business ideas that seem like someone should pursue them, but no-one is. In most cases, the reason will be that it’s a bad idea for reasons I don’t understand, but in some cases, it may be that it’s a brilliant idea that no-one has thought of, because if they had, they’d be raking in the cash right now. You be the judge which category this one falls into.
Idea: Create and sell modular architectural ornaments that are compatible with modern residential construction techniques. The purpose of adding these atomic to buildings’ exteriors is to make them more beautiful. A limited number of blocks (tens to hundreds) at dimensions that fit each other and common building elements like doors, pillars and windows may be sufficient. Drainage, tolerances, and zoning will be baked in. By combining those blocks, thousands of different designs and styles are possible. Victorian, craftsman and other styles will be part of the menu. By mass-manufacturing them, construction and maintenance costs will be kept to a minimum. The material (Wood? Plaster? Something else?), the general architectural styles and, most importantly, the economically most viable number of blocks need to be determined, as does the design of the blocks themselves.
