German adventurer Axel Brümmer, like many adventurers, doesn’t like to be called an adventurer. For him it’s not an adventure, it’s just living his life.
Here he is on the moment you stop to travel and start to arrive, in an interview on the Weltwach podcast with Erik Lorenz:
When you travel, and nothing happens, it’s the most beautiful thing […] To really arrive, it takes some time. I like the moment it gets boring. It’s the same wherever I go: Initially, when you see a new place, you love the dark green of the jungle, or the wide horizons of the desert, or the picturesque beaches. After a few weeks, you get bored to always just see the green wall of the jungle, to just see sand and shrubs, or just waves. At that point, because the trip isn’t over yet, you start to distract yourself. You learn to see the small things, the details, and that’s when you arrive. Only then you really understand the place. Every trip I take, once this beautiful boredom makes its appearance, when you understand the place, you arrive to such an extent that you don’t want it to end.
